JR. ANGLER TOURNAMENT RULES
The Junior Angler Kingfish Tournament is intended to encourage young anglers to participate in a fun and competitive event, which encourages the conservation of marine life and promotes the awareness of the importance of protecting our natural resources.
RULES
1. All GJKT General Tournament Rules apply to the Junior Angler Tournament unless modified in these Rules. In the spirit of competition, it is the intent of the Tournament to have the Junior Angler strike and fight the fish to the boat. However, since safety and a fun experience for our Junior Anglers are of paramount concern, adult assistance is allowed and is not considered a violation of Tournament rules, especially if personal safety, damage, or loss of equipment are involved.
AGE
2. Anglers must be 17 years of age or younger on the Junior Angler Tournament date. There is no minimum age limit. Proof of age may be required to claim a prize.
REGISTRATION
3. Registration fees are non-refundable. All percipient Anglers will receive a Tournament Number Card, which must be displayed
during weigh-in. The boat Captain will receive a boat number that must also be displayed at weigh-in.
FISHING
4. Boats can enter the Atlantic Ocean from any Inlet on the East Coast after 6 AM on the Tournament Day.
WEIGHING-IN FISH
5. The weigh-in dock opens at 12:00 noon. Anglers must be in line at the Tournament Site (Jim King Boat Ramp and Park at Sisters Creek) by 3:30 pm. The Junior Anglers are competing for LARGEST (weight) KINGFISH ONLY. Anglers 6 years old and under must wear an approved PFD while on the floating dock. They may remove it during weigh-in. All Junior Anglers must wear shoes on the dock during weigh-in. Junior Anglers should be escorted by an adult through the entire weigh-in process. After weigh-in, Junior Anglers will receive a weigh-in slip as a receipt for official weight.
6. Any matter not specifically covered by these rules, including the GJKT General Tournament Rules, will be decided by and at the sole discretion of the Tournament Rules Committee, whose decisions are final and binding. The Tournament reserves the right to delay, cancel or reschedule the Tournament if conditions, including but not limited to the weather conditions, are unfavorable or unsafe in the sole judgment of the Tournament Rules Committee. The Tournament Rules Committee reserves the right to amend any rule prior to the start of the Tournament. If the Tournament is delayed canceled or rescheduled due to any cause beyond the control of Jacksonville Marine Charities, Inc. d/b/a The Greater Jacksonville Kingfish Tournament, no entry fee shall be refunded and entrants shall have no claim against Jacksonville Marine Charities, Inc., any Tournament Sponsor or the City of Jacksonville, for return of any portion of the entry fee.
