REDFISH TOURNAMENT RULES

REGISTRATION

1.  The entry fee is $75 per Angler and is non-refundable. Payment of the entry fee constitutes a representation by each Angler that the Angler has read and understands these Tournament Rules and that the Angler will abide by such rules and the decisions of the Tournament’s Committees, Weigh Master, and Tournament personnel. The Tournament reserves the right to disqualify any Angler who violates or has violated Tournament Rules.

CAPTAIN’S MEETING

2.  There will be a Captain’s meeting for the Redfish Tournament on Thursday, July 16, 2026 @ 7:00 PM. Each Angler is responsible for being informed of all Tournament Rules. The Tournament Rules Committee may amend the Tournament Rules at any time prior to the end of the Captain’s meeting.

PRIZES

3.  Only one prize will be awarded per registered Angler. All prizes are cash. Prizes will be awarded for 1st to 5th place.

BOATING SAFETY

4.  Every boat must meet all Federal, State and Local safety regulations for its size. All Anglers are responsible for ensuring all applicable Federal, State and Local fishing laws regulations and directives are adhered to by all members of their crew. It is recommended all boats be equipped with an operating Marine VHF-FM radio. The use of Marine radios during the Tournament must comply with the FCC and USCG regulations. The use of profane or derogatory remarks may result in disqualification. Violation of any applicable Federal, State and Local fishing laws regulations or directives by a boat or Angler may be grounds for disqualification in the sole discretion of the Tournament Rules Committee.

CHECK OUT CHECK IN

5.  There will be no official checkout procedure for this Tournament. All boats may commence fishing as soon as there is safe light to fish. The weigh in station will open at 9:00 AM and all Anglers wishing to weigh a fish must be in the weigh in line at the Tournament Site (Jim King Boat Ramp at Sisters Creek) not later than 2:00 PM. A Committee boat may be located near the weigh-in scale to establish the end of the weigh in line.

FISHING

6.  The only methods for catching fish are rod and reel. The use of any aerial device is prohibited.

WEIGHING-IN FISH

7.  This is a live catch tournament. It is the Angler’s responsibility to present a live fish at the scales. Any Angler presenting a dead fish at the scale will have a one-pound penalty subtracted from the weight of the fish. All fish submitted for weigh-in must be of legal size and caught on the day of the Tournament. Only one Redfish per Angler will be eligible for the official weigh in. All fish will be measured with a pinched tail. The Weigh Master’s decision regarding whether a fish is qualified to be weighed shall be final and binding on all Tournament Participants. All fish weighed will be returned to the Angler. Fish to be weighed must be put on the dock and carried to the scales by the Angler. Shoes are required by all participants coming to the scales and a personal floatation device is required if a Junior Angler leaves a boat. All information printed on the weigh-in slip, including but limited to the official weight, as accepted by the Angler, is binding. In the event of a tie in fish weights, the fish with the earliest official weigh-in time wins.

PROTEST

8.  Protests must be submitted to the Weigh Master in person and in writing within thirty (30) minutes after the closing of the weigh-in station. Only the registered Angler may file a protest. A one hundred-dollar ($100) Cash deposit must accompany each protest. In the event the protest is upheld, the deposit will be refunded. If the protest is not upheld, the deposit will be forfeited. The final decisions of the Tournament Rules Committee are binding regarding any protest.

POLYGRAPH

9.  All Anglers agree to submit to a polygraph at the request of the Tournament. Failure to submit to such an examination will result in disqualification of the Angler and forfeiture of all winnings.

MISCELLANEOUS

10. Any matter not specifically covered by these rules may be decided by and at the sole discretion of the Tournament Rules Committee and final decisions of the Tournament Rules Committee shall be binding. The Tournament reserves the right to delay, cancel or reschedule the Tournament if conditions, including but not limited to the weather conditions, are unfavorable or unsafe in the sole judgment of the Tournament Rules Committee. The Tournament Rules Committee reserves the right to amend any rule due to safety concerns. If the Tournament shall be delayed canceled or rescheduled due to any cause beyond the control of Jacksonville Marine Charities, Inc. d/b/a The Greater Jacksonville Kingfish Tournament, no entry fee shall be refunded to the entrants and entrants shall have no claim against Jacksonville Marine Charities, Inc., any Tournament sponsor or the City of Jacksonville, for return of any portion of the entry fee.
