Junior Angler Kingfish Tournament

REGISTRATION:
Registration Fee $10.00
Registration ends at 7:30 PM on Tuesday, July 22nd
PURPOSE: To encourage the participation of youthful fishermen in a sporting event, which encourages conservation of marine life and awareness of the necessity to protect our natural resources.
PRIZES: Prizes will be awarded up to 50 places.
RULES: All General Tournament rules, except as modified below, apply to the Jr. Angler Tournament. In the spirit of competition, it is the intent of the Tournament to have the Jr. Angler strike and fight the fish to the boat. However, since safety and a fun experience for our Jr. Anglers are of paramount concern, adult assistance to Jr. Anglers is not considered a violation of Tournament rules if personal safety, damage or loss of equipment are involved.
AGE: Jr. Anglers must be 15 years of age or younger as of the Jr. Angler Tournament date. There is no minimum age limit. Proof of age may be required to claim prize.
REGISTRATION: This is an angler registration tournament. Your boat must be registered in the General Tournament to participate in the Jr. Angler Tournament. Registration fees are non-refundable. All participating anglers will be assigned a Tournament Number Card, which must be displayed during Check Out and Check In.
CHECK OUT AND CHECK IN: The General Tournament Procedures regarding Check Out and Check In apply to the Jr. Angler Tournament. All boats must check out from the St. Johns River inlet. Check Out for the Jr. Angler Tournament will commence at 7:30 AM. ALL BOATS WEIGHING FISH MUST ENTER AND CHECK-IN THROUGH THE ST. JOHNS RIVER INLET. The Check Out/Check In procedure is a mandatory safety measure and is in keeping with the Tournament's Marine Permit issued by the U.S. Coast Guard.
FISHING: Hours of fishing are 7:30 AM until 3:30 PM. If you INTEND TO WEIGH FISH, you must be checked in and west of the St. John's River Check-In boat no later than 3:30 PM. There will be no weather day.
WEIGHING-IN FISH: The weigh-in dock opens at 2:00 PM. The Jr. Anglers are competing for LARGEST (weight) KINGFISH (Scomberomorus Cavalla) ONLY . All Jr. Angler Tournament participants must wear a personal floatation device and shoes when presenting their fish for weigh-in. Jr. Anglers should be escorted by an adult through the entire weigh-in process. Jr. Anglers will receive a weigh-in slip as receipt for official weight. All Kingfish must meet the minimum size required by law.
